What Makes the Extra Oxygen Atom So Special?

Ozone: Naturally Occurring and Man-Made
During thunderstorms, lightning provides enough energy to transform oxygen molecules in the air into ozone, a reason why we often notice that fresh, clean smell after a storm. It’s nature’s way of cleaning the atmosphere.
Humans, however, have developed technology to produce ozone artificially. Using devices called ozone generators, engineers apply electrical energy to oxygen molecules, splitting and recombining them to form ozone. These generators are now
widely used to disinfect water, purify air, and clean surfaces, thanks to ozone’s impressive germ-killing abilities.
How Do Generate Ozone?
The process involves specialised machines called ozone generators. These devices generate ozone by applying high-voltage electrical discharges—similar to lightning—to oxygen molecules in the air.
This causes the molecules to split and then recombine as
ozone. The generated ozone can then be directed into water, air or onto surfaces, delivering rapid disinfection and cleaning power where needed.
